Terms of Service

Please read the following terms of service before working with me.

Payments

All payments are processed through PayPal invoices as Goods and Services to protect both myself and you. Note that you will be receiving a digital file and that nothing will be shipped to you. Paying an invoice states that you understand this statement and will not be expecting to receive any physical goods.I do not send an invoice until I am ready to start work on your commission, and I will message you to confirm interest before doing so. Payment is due in full upon receipt of the invoice unless prior arrangements for a payment plan have been made. Trusted clients may be permitted to pay half before and half upon completion, but this is determined on a client-by-client basis and is restricted to people I have dealt with in the past.If you wish to back out of a commission, please inform me before an invoice is sent. I can simply put you on hold or remove you from my queue, no questions asked.

Refund Policy

As stated above, I do not request any payment until I am ready to start on your commission. For that reason, please ensure you are in a space to afford the commission before the invoice is paid.If you need to cancel the commission after the invoice is paid, I will refund an amount based on the work that has already been completed. If I decide I need to cancel the commission, for whatever reason, at that point you will be issued a full refund as it was a failure on my part to deliver.

Commercial Use

All prices listed are for non-commercial use only. This means that you may not reproduce the artwork for profit, such as through selling merchandise. However, you are free to use the artwork for personal use, such as getting it printed to hang on your wall. For commercial use, please tell me beforehand so that we can discuss pricing. You can ask for commercial use later on, though an additional fee will be requested at that point.

NOTE: Under no circumstances is my work to be used to mint NFTs, or for crypto or AI usage.

Provided References

I do not work solely with written descriptions thus references for characters and designs are required. Acceptable references include character reference sheets, prior character art, video game screenshots, mood boards, picrews, Heroforge models, and any number of free resources that can be found online. If you have a specific pose or scene in mind, stick figure composition refs are both welcome and encouraged as it helps me ensure that we are on the same page without repeated back and forth. However, due to the present atmosphere of online art, I will not accept the following sources:

  • AI Art

  • Stolen reference sheets or artwork of characters that are not your own with the intention of a 1-to-1 copy

Multiple different references to depict a vibe or general idea for your character is more than fine, but in the interest of respecting the creations of others I will not replicate designs 1-to-1 unless the character is your own.

Usage, Edits, and Reposting

USAGERegardless of content, I own copyright of my work and retain the ability to post and share commissioned works where I see fit, including, but not limited to, in my portfolio, advertising, and branding.EDITSA client is free to crop the image for the use of profile pictures, forum avatars, banners, or other similar purposes. If anything more dramatic needs to be changed (ie. addition of scars, color changes, etc.) feel free to ask me to make adjustments as I likely have the original file and can make them more readily.REPOSTINGA client may publically repost work they have commissioned from me as long as they offer a link back to one of my social medias along with it. Any watermarks are to remain visible on the piece if the full image is being posted.

Timeframes

I endeavor to have your commission done as soon as possible, however, please note that I have a day job and commissions are not my main source of income. Work on commissions is limited to time I have between other obligations. Frequently I only have a few hours to create art in the evenings, or on weekends if I don't have other obligations. For this reason, I cannot give a definitive timeframe for the completion of a commission. This is also why I keep my queue rather small. If you need a commission completed by a certain date, please tell me during the request process so I can tell you if that timeframe is achieveable.

Workflow

I am very prone to sending work in progress screenshots at various points in the commission process. This allows the client to readily catch errors that need to be corrected, and gives me ample time to make changes as needed. Please do not hesitate to let me know about any such things. In my process, I have several different stages depending on the commission type:

  • Sketch / Concept — rough concept, with generally little focus on anatomy or specific details. This is meant to get the general mood of the piece, and this is the point where pose alterations and other similar drastic changes should be requested. Concept commissions stop at this stage.

  • Lineart — lines are cleaned up and anatomy is refined and adjusted. Once lineart is started, the structure of the general piece is locked in, though minor tweaks to it may be made. Drastic changes the require a return to the sketch/concepting stage may be subject to additional alteration fees for the additional work hours needed.

  • Flats — colors and details like tattoos and scars are added. Feel free to ask for any color shifts during this stage. Flat-color commissions stop at this stage.

  • Rendering/Shading — the finishing touches like shadows and lighting are added until the piece is done.

Concept Sketches

Starting: 20 USD, +10 USD for each additional character
A style of quick sketch that is meant to quickly encompass an idea or a concept. These are frequently done as warm-ups and generally are limited to a work period of around 30 minutes to an hour. As a result, many are experimental and are not refined, but may have pops of color or rough ambient lighting to portray a general feel. They generally have a fairly quick turn-around time, depending on my workload.
If a commissioner wishes to later elevate a concept sketch to a finished piece, the cost of the concept sketch will be credited as the sketch phase would be considered completed. I reserve the right to refuse revisiting a concept sketch depending on my comfort level and whether or not I feel I can fully render the concept adequately.
